Loon

(sigh)

You know things are bad when The Wife and I are alternating days trying to convince the other one that they're going to have to get used to raising the kids alone because the other one of us is too damned depressed to keep on living. I feel like shit today. I feel like shit pretty much every day. I don't believe in things ever getting any better, and I don't like the odds on winning the Lotto.

Bleh.

An interesting piece ... an old poem

I was recently re-familiarized with a poem by the great Irish poet W.B. Yeats which had the following lines:

The best lack all convictions, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

How better could one describe the world today? The dark-age cult of islamist lunacy the "the worst" who (along with their toady leftist apologists) are filled with "passionate intensity", while significant chunks of Western Civilization ("the best") are found to "lack all convictions", a definition of the weasly U.N. and the insufferable Democratic Party.

Of course, this poem does suffer from Xtian imagry, but it is a fascinating read for these days ...
