YouSuck!

just more eBay/Pokemon griping ... don't mind me ...

Grrrrrrrr .... I just hate it when this happens ... there is a DEALER in the U.K. who has glommed onto one of my favorite eBay card sellers. Now, in the past, I've been able to pick up a lot of cards from this seller, at 1¢, 5¢, 10¢, maybe a quarter, going through for things missing from Daughter #1's collection. It seems, though, that this is now a thing of the past since the same !#@$&&*(& U.K. card dealer is slapping "big money" bids (frankly, I've never out-bid him to see where he bids, but it is over a buck per card) to snag these cards. I suppose he might be the U.K. equivalent of the PokeOrder guys (who have wildly inflated card prices compared to the other sites I check) and figures he can just pass the costs on. I, on the other hand, don't want to be spending insane amounts on this "hobby", and it's a BIG difference for me if a card is going for 28¢ verses 71¢ (especially if I'm trying to get many at once). Last night I bid on fourty-some-odd cards and this afternoon I found a whole in-box full of out-bid notices. I went in with my "higher bets" (usually 53¢ and 66¢) but I'm remaining "disciplined" as far as not breaking that $1.00 level (including shipping) for these cards (well, except in one case, but that was filling a glaring gap in one set), but found that I was still out-bid at each of those. I do, of course, make a point of raising those bids on each and every card, though ... I figure the least I can do is cost this guy an extra 33¢ or so on every damn thing he outbids me on. I wonder how much he's paying to have those shipped internationally ...

Needless to say, this is LESS of a peeve than the "sniper" program thing (this guy is, after all, actually out-bidding me from the get-go, being willing to spend more than I am, and not just "slipping in" with a few extra pennies when I think I've won something), but it's still a bummer!
