Whoa ...

Huh? Last thing I knew it was 9pm and I was watching this thing on Atlantis researchers on the SciFi channel ... suddenly I find that the TV's off and it's after 1 in the morning! I guess that means that I've already had 4 hours of sleep, but I'm way behind on the stuff I was meaning to get done tonight.

Anyway ...

I can't believe that I was that tired from just picking up The Girls and taking them up to Dojo, but we haven't done that in a couple of weeks, so maybe that was it.

The big news is that the Degerberg Acadamy of Martial Arts (where they kids have been going for six years or so now) just won the first annual "Black Belt Industry Award" (sponsored by Black Belt magazine) for Best Overall School! Degerberg has regularly been in or atop the "top 5" schools in the country (from some other listing, not sure what), but this was a national/international award program with voting and stuff, so it was exciting having the school get this recognition!

Since we'd been missing so many classes, neither of The Girls got promoted this time, but it was good to get them back up there ... I had the feeling that had #1 gotten in her "job list" this month (we totally screwed that up) she would have gotten her Purple Belt, but I guess that's going to have to wait to next month.

We had dinner up at Garcia's, which is always great ... as I've noted before, they have HUGE burritos for like $4 ... we typically get The Girls a Quesadilla appetizer to split and I get a Burrito Al Pastor which they share a bit of (I can typically just make it through about 2/3-3/4 of one of the burritos, so forking over some of the stuffing to The Girls works out fine).

OK, so havin' kids around makes me aware of the trends in Happy Meal toys ... arrrgh! Just now McD's started up their Pirates of the Caribbean toys, which will be out for the next month ... we were lucky enough that our local one was starting with toy #2 ... the Aye Ball ... which is definitely the coolest of the current batch! It's worth it to order a Happy Meal (or a Mighty Kids Meal) to get one of these ... as it's basically a "Magic 8 Ball", but stuck inside a pirate skull ... you ask it a question, give it a shake, and then flip up the eyepatch to see what old bony face has to say ... "Nay, Scalawag!", "Walk The Plank!", "Yes, Me Heartie!" ... and various other pirate-speak answers. This one is going to be a classic "cool Happy Meal toy" ... and is well worth the price of the meal. Arrrgh! Don't say I didn't give you heads-up on this one!

Two in a ROW ... wowza!

Yes, I think it has been quite a while since I spewed out two poems back-to-back! Of course "back in the day" when I was writing 250 poems a year, I'd write something most days (about 21 a month), but that was long ago and far away (and everybody would dump me from their F.L.'s if I was posting all that), so this is just what it is ...

Such fun, yes? As Elphaba put it ... "What a world, what a world, what a ...."
