Man ...

This morning is hitting me like a ton of bricks.

As noted previously, I've had little time over the past two plus weeks (since the economic shit hit the reality fan around here) for just "being" as I've had to crank out so much "doing" between planning that trip, plowing through 10 states in 8 days, dealing with tornado-based travel chaos on the back end, and then (with an hour to spare) snapping right into "convention immersion" mode. Even under good circumstances I'd be, understandably, exhausted, but I have had no chance to get in any "emotional sorting-out" over this period, which is leaving me rather a wreck today.

Of course, I have MANY things to get caught up on, having indicated to various folks while on the road that I'd be "back at my desk" today (plus three books I read while gone that need reviewing, and having to get the photos off the camera and organized, etc.), but all I want to do is to crawl into some hole and whimper. Unfortunately, I had so much "new stuff" get pumped into my brain over the weekend at the SLCC, that my head's wanting to start following up on more web research on that stuff, and it woke me up crack of dawn this morning. (sigh)

Not a good place ... not a happy space. Plus somebody else won the damn PowerBall prize (I'd picked up a ticket at the Denver airport on our way out)!

I'm getting hit with that spam thing again!

Some motherfucker out there is "forging" my domain as the return address on bazillion pieces of spam (and requests to join various groups), so I'm getting hundreds of "bounced" spam.

Needless to say, this drives me nuts. I'm hoping that things like SpamHaus are on top of things enough to realize that it's NOT my domain that's sending this, but the various actual IP addresses, but I frequently find that (in the wake of one of these episodes) that has been "blacklisted" by individual spam-blocking programs as a result of this, and that will, from time to time, end up screwing up my mail (I'd sent a note to an old friend some months back and he never saw it, having ended up in his spam folder until I asked him in person about it).

I know that "I'm asking for it" having a "catchall" account, but I like to be able to specify a name "on the fly" when I'm putting in info on a form (i.e. corporatename@ so I can later see who's selling their lists), but it really pisses me off that there's nothing I can do about this crap!
