Oh, look ... POEMS ... four of nine

Poems, poems, poems, and more poems ... just to let you know what's coming up, if and when I'm able to grab the hours for transcription, etc., there are 8 poems from October in one notebook, 9 poems from October in another, and 4 so far from November. I suspect that those might come out in blocks like that, since 8 poems is 2 hours of typing, plus an hour or so of titling, proofing, filing and posting, and that's a football game, eh?

                    INSTEAD OF MINE

                    in matters of number
                    and how they're aligned
                    we have no connection
                    standing as though
                    this was somebody else
                    and all these years
                    counted on another's age
                    instead of mine
                    there is no break
                    in the outer grind
                    we sacrifice night
                    to serve the will
                    and this supports
                    what little worth
                    we can muster
                    in these darkest days
                    strange cycles grip
                    beneath the mundane flow
                    we can not chart these
                    yet sense their sway,
                    deep yet subtle,
                    hidden yet sure,
                    never accounted for
                    by the sleeping mass
                    transformative doors,
                    gates of alteration,
                    we seek the path
                    of specific change
                    not chaotic shifts
                    but careful turns
                    away from destruction
                    on towards the light
                    it all seems shadows
                    not the real thing
                    but plays of light
                    upon these walls
                    with piped-in vocals
                    well-wrought scripts
                    crafting a tragedy
                    from the stuff of life
