Bummer ...

A couple of years ago, my Mom was honored by Les Dames d'Escoffier, a culinary industry group of which she was a Chicago Chapter founder. One of the nice things they did for her was contact people all over the food industry to have them send in notes on how my Mom had influenced their careers, and then collected these in an ultrasuede-covered binder (my Mom was partial to wearing ultrasuede suits).

Anyway, I did a mailing out to my Xmas card list (plus others) with a note about my Mom's passing (as many folks on the list might not have heard), a copy of her obituary, and a note that talked about how she'd always kidded about "writing her book", but how she'd never gotten around to it. I had set up a mailbox over on Yahoo and was asking folks to send in remembrances of my Mom, little vignettes they could recall of her both personally, professionally, and socially. It's been about a month since I sent those out, and there has not been a single response. This saddens me ... I was expecting to have some folks writing in.
