I've tried to avoid this one ...

OK, OK ... I can't take it any more! There's this 4-item list going around of stuff you don't think anybody else on your Friends List has ... I was stuck on the fact that I can't be sure who has what and would find it embarassing to list something that I suddenly find that a half-dozen people also have, but I've seen the meme one too many times, and I can't resist it any longer ...

1. Name a CD you own that no one else on your friends list does:
rops 56 - The Other Upriver
This is a CD by my buddies David Stowell and George Black, who used to be "Stations" back in the day, evolving from doing Buzzcocks covers into their own thing. Somewhere along they line they changed the name to "rops 56" (go figure) and moved out to Portland. I don't know if they've ever done another record or not.

2. Name a book you own that no one else on your friends list does:
Wizard of the Four Winds by Douglas Sharon
An anthropological look at a Peruvian Shaman, Don Eduardo Calderon ... who just happens to be my "root teacher" in my Shamanic studies. My first adventure down in Peru with Don Eduardo came a few years after the time-frame of this book. I wish I'd known about this in advance, as a lot of stuff that was "headspinning" (well, some of that was the San Pedro), would have been "in context" had I'd read it before I went!

3. Name a movie you own on DVD/VHS/whatever that no one else on your friends list does:
Stiff Competition
Ah ... a classic from Porn's "golden era" ... this 1984 gem features some of the greats ... John Leslie, Bridget Monet, Ron Jeremy, etc. ... I'm delighted to see it's still available! (I know, I'm such a PERV)

4. Name a place that you have visited that no one else on your friends list has:
Kabah, Sayil, Labna, and Chacmultun
This was a tough one ... largely because the places that I've been that others might not have been to are pretty obscure, and, frankly, I had to start looking up names. I almost went with Coba (off in the Yucatan jungle, inland from Tulum) which I've stayed at twice, but due to its having a Villas Archaeologica there, it gets on some of the more extensive tourist itineraries out of Cancun, so I figured it was more of a risk for hearing "oh, I've been there!". Instead I opted for the "Puuc Cities" up by Uxmal.

bahhhhhhhh ....
