You would think that, living down in the Gold Coast, surrounded by dozens of ritzy hotels, that we'd see celebrities more often than we do. This dearth of celebrity sightings could, of course, be due to the fact that I'm always at home, and nearly always on my computer, but still, when I'm outside I should (just by proximity) run into The Famous. Well, on our way back from seeing the movie yesterday, we're walking up Rush St., and just as we're approaching Chicago Avenue, I see a familiar face. Do I know this guy? Oh, wait (brain clicks through some rusty memories) ... that's Brian Setzer walking down the sidewalk towards us! How cool! Once he's past us, I lean over to The Wife and say "Wow, that was Brian Setzer of the Stray Cats!" to which she responds "Who?", and I have to spend the next 15 minutes trying to explain the neo-rockabilly phenomenon that rode the coattails of New Wave "back in the day". I'm sure if I dug out the old albums she might recognize at least "Stray Cat Strut", buf figured at that point I'd let her stay blissful in her ignorance of that particular slice of American pop culture.
Anyway ... I'm putting this up here hoping it will amuse somebody. He's currently on a tour which is taking him throgh a lot of House Of Blues locations, and I assume that was where he was heading when we saw him yesterday afternoon.
