I'm really glad I ordered this CD ...

Wow ... I'm surprised. I just got in Grant Hart's Good News For Modern Man and really like it. While it's not quite up to his work with Hüsker Dü (Bob Mould's guitar gave those tunes more muscle than Hart's been able to manage on his own), these are very good.

What is surprising to me is that I listened to this all back in 1999 ... Hart had put the whole album up (in RealAudio files to make them harder to steal) on his web site ( and I surfed through the variuos cuts and didn't think much of them. Perhaps this is why I don't download much music ... somehow, I just can't get into listening to music from my computer ... I'd rather pop a CD into my desktop stereo sytem and play it over and over (until I get sick of it). Sometimes it take 5-6 play-throughs for me to connect with an album, but in this case I liked it from the get-go.

Anyway ... I haven't been reviewing music here as much as I'd like, but I thought I'd pass along the recommendation on this one. Amazon still has it in stock at full retail, but several of their new/used vendors have it "like new" for under a buck (that's what I did ... paid $3.44 with shipping!), which is a good deal on a good album.
