Not only was it hot and sticky, but our building did a 6-hour electrical shut down, which appears to have ended with a nice juicy spike that fried our DSL modem (or so the fourth or fifth Indian person that I spoke with told me).
So, after a couple of hours trying to get back on-line, I grab The Girls and we head off to Best Buy to get a new wireless modem/router ... unfortunately the new version doesn't support the connectivity mode that *I* was using (H-something, it uses phone lines and a USB connection, and I guess only SBC was supporting it), so although we have managed (after another couple of hours on the phone with SBC/Yahoo/AT&T tech support) to get everybody else's computers hooked up, I'm still screwed. It's beginning to look like I'm going to have to go buy about fifty feet of ethernet cable and just hard wire it back there, since for some reason the wireless signal seems allergic to my office.
I'm currently at The Wife's computer typing this. I was supposed to have been doing a class on line today ... guess that's not going to happen. I'm also supposed to be going to a 7:30 meeting (yes, that's AM) at the CTC, and that's looking iffy at this point.
