Another book meme ...

OK, so it might be a recycled meme, being similar to ones we've seen before, but it turned out cool this morning, and I figured I'd pass it along. Snagged from a journal that's on the F.L. of one of my "secret identities" (Holy multiple personalities, Batman!), so will remain nameless ...

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5.Don'tyou dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! Iknow you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.
6. Tag five people.
We can no more establish an infallible system of ethics, than we can establish infallible systems of religion, philosophy, or politics. All the Universe is in a state of flux, and men are but a swarm of querulous, heat-evolved insectivores, living aimlessly on the top of a floating cork, that whirls and darts and rolls over and over and over; amid the scum and froth and slime of a bubbling Alembic. Within his own sphere individual man is, and ought to be the supreme determinant; outside of that sphere he knows absolutely nothing - and philosophy less than nothing.

(sigh) ... I don't know what I'm going to do for cool "book meme" quotes when I finally finish Might Is Right and have it up on the shelf rather than in the small "to read while waiting for downloads/programs to finish up" stack under my desk! Anyway ... rather than tagging any particular folks (since I'm never sure who is actually reading my journal), I'll just throw this out and hope that some of you have at it!
