today's job fair ...

Well, today's job fair (over at Navy Pier) wasn't as productive in terms of leads as the one at Soldier Field, but it did send me home with a lot more swag! Aside from the Monster.com t-shirt that you got for successfully registering (they were turning away folks who did not have a 4-year college degree), I got a Sara Lee tote bag, some American Girl pencils, and a very groovy CIA lapel pin! Frankly, I only spoke with four or five companies again (there was a program book that more or less gave you the run-down on what they were looking for), since most weren't looking for marketing communications guys, and it seemed like most only had "HQ jobs" (as opposed to "store managers" and "sales reps") that would require re-location.

Needless to say, the chat I had with the CIA lady was the most interesting. Even at my advanced age (I'm too old for anything meaningful at the FBI, for instance), she thought I'd be very good as a Collection Management Officer in the National Clandestine Service, their "elite corps"! While I have next to no interest in re-locating to McLean VA, it was interesting to see where "I might fit" in a government position if the shit really does start hitting the fan.
