Anyway, I got my "Ice Breaker" speech written last night ... it's 4-6 minutes of "introducing myself" ... and I ended up talking about books all the way through, from the first book I purchased, to my publishing company, to my current interface with LibraryThing.
I wrote it in roughly 15-second chunks, and have those printed out to cards, which should make it easier to practice. I don't know, however, if I'm going to be able to be giving the speech this week or not ... as noted previously, I'm sort of "up in the air", waiting to hear if I'm going to be called back in for a further interview up in Evanston or not. I'm signed up for "A Retreat For The Unemployed" on Tuesday and Wednesday out in the western suburbs, and will head off to that if I don't hear on the job by Monday. If I go to the retreat, I won't be able to make the Toastmasters meeting ... if I have to duck out of that to make it to an interview, I'll likely be able to be there. So ... I'm in Limbo at the moment!
