Geez ...

It is amazing how the Leftists get their panties in a knot over that review I wrote a couple of weeks back on Bernard Goldberg's book Bias ... I just got a comment from somebody calling me a parasite for having been publishing Pagan books and advertising in Green Egg (back in the day), as though it would be impossible for me to simultaneously be Conservative and Pagan (never mind the issue that it's hard to be a "parasite" when you're publishing at a loss). The psychological states that this books elicits among the liberals are truly fascinating, from the experiences that Goldberg had, to the responses I've seen to a review of it, the "circling the wagons" to defend against any light being shed on the plainly evident Leftist bent of the MSM seems to speak to a deeper paranoia ... as though the liberal world-view is grounded on being reflected in the New York Times and TV news, and to hint that the NYT and the rest of the MSM are simply agents of the Lefitst agenda threatens them as much as trying to suggest to Fundy Xtians that the whole Christianity thing is a badly supported myth!

It is sadly amusing how many people seem to think that just because I was spending money on ads that I was raking in big dough as a publisher. With one exception (notably, a display classified in Soldier of Fortune!) we never had an ad that paid for itself, and to have this person broadside me for "making money on a certain demographic" (when I might have had a chance of making money if I had been marketing to nearly any other demographic) would be laughable, if it wasn't connected to the financial ruin that is my life.

I'm always surprised at how "touchy" liberals are about conservative writers ... I had one person (responding to that quiz meme that was floating around LibraryThing about books you read the past year) hit ... out of 73 books ... one Ann Coulter title (about 3/4 of the way down the list) and do a huffy post about how they couldn't possibly read that list any more. Out of the last 110 books I've read, I believe that five of them are "conservative political" books (well, depending on how you count P. J. O'Rourke, which I typically classify as "humor"), but to go from the responses I've seen from liberals, you'd think all I read is Rush Limbaugh (and, frankly, I've not read any of Rush's books).

It boggles the mind.
