(sigh) My Mom's best friend for 50-some years died last night. She was about 10 years younger than my Mom, and I'd really had hoped to have had her around as a "memory bank" for stuff that was getting hazy for me. We hadn't seen much of Charlott since my Mom died, but we'd occasionally have one of those hour-plus phone calls. Aside from my immediate family, I'm down to almost nobody left.
