Today was the last day of school for The Girls ... well, it wasn't even a day, just a "go in for your report card and meet your new teacher" morning ... and both of them (#1 finishing up 5th grade and #2 finishing up 1st grade) got the Principal's Scholar award! This is the highest level of academic achievement at their school, and while Daughter #1 has been a Principal's Scholar for every term but one since she's been there, it was great to have Daughter #2 make it too, as she's much less the "natural student" that her sister is.
On top of this great news, #2 ended up getting the same 2nd grade (who will then "rotate up" the following year to be her 3rd grade) teacher that #1 had, who we really liked, and #1 is getting a "seasoned vet" of the International Baccalaureate program handling her "pre-IB" class next year (there was some worry, as the 7th and 8th grades are being moved out to a satellite location next fall, if all the "good" I.B. teachers would be following them there). So ... we're stoked!
