Well ... "it's on" ...

We've got 3-4 months before total financial melt-down occurs.

At this point even if I got a job here (unless it was a very well-paid position) it would only slow the hemorrhaging, so we are In Search Of A New Home. I have lived in Chicago since 1966 ... lived in my present neighborhood since 1976, and lived in my current building since 1981. That's a LOT of inertia this is going up against, folks.

On Wednesday morning, all four of us are loading on an airplane and heading to Denver. We will be making a loop to "eyeball" Cheyenne, WY, Billing/Bozeman/Missoula, MT, Spokane, WA, Boise, ID, and northern Utah (although scottks has warned me that the "professional" job market sucks in Salt Lake) over the course of 8 days. Hopefully we will be able to get enough of a "feel" for these places to be able to focus a job/home search in one of them. The Wife is agitating to pre-connect with some realtors in each town, but I'm thinking we need to know where we can work before we get too hooked into a particular house (even though I did see a real nice one listed in Billings).

There are a few of y'all out that way and I'm hoping that we might be able to have a cup of coffee or something as we roll through.

This is boggling my mind ... I can't believe this is happening ... and not in a good way.
