I'm still trying to process this ...

But today I realized that the NFL Network's "theme song" (not the ditty that they have various people singing in their commercials, but the "sound signature" when they put up their logo) is Morrissey's Every Day Is Like Sunday.

Morrissey ... the NFL ... Morrissey ... the NFL ... Morrissey ... the NFL ... it's like having George Foreman being the pitchman for PETA or something!

I'm even having a hard time trying to picture the advertising meetings selling the concept ... it's not like it's a "hot new sound", having come out (heh...) 20 years ago ... were they counting on the NFL guys to not be familiar with the song, and pitching "yeah, it's about Sunday, with Armageddon and Nuclear Bombs!" ... somehow I'm guessing that the "silent and grey" part (let alone the "on your face ..." implications) didn't figure in to the appeal.

Our society just gets curiouser and curiouser.
