However, I just stumbled over something today ... the "Twitpocalypse"!
It seems, much in the vein of the Y2K "bug", that there was a design flaw in the way Twitter identifies individual messages. Now, I'm somewhat unclear on the math involved, but it seems that there is a 32-bit "signed integer" limit of 2,147,483,647 unique identifiers for those individual Tweets, and the service is fast approaching that number.
HERE is the page with the rolling counter. By the current estimate, the "Twitpocalypse" will occur in JUST 4 DAYS!
I'm amazed that this is the first I've heard of this. The end is near!
